Swimming Lessons

Well, it has been a super long time since I have blogged. Usually, I am too busy to get on the computer for very long, but while Lorelai is napping I figured I would update everyone on what is going on in the Rodriguez house at the moment. This week, Lorelai, Marina, and myself started swimming lessons. Lorelai and I are taking a mommy and me class that teaches different things to do with them in the water. Lorelai is LOVING it. She has figured out how to kick in the water, splash, and even go under water. I am amazed after four days at her progress. Marina is taking a stroke development class at the same time and from what I can see so far, she is making some progress and I am super glad about that too.

Other things that have been going on is that I am starting to notice that Lorelai really understands things that we say. For instance, when I say no to her about something I shake my head. Well, now when she is done eating or something she shakes her head no. It is funny now, but I try not to laugh because one day it could become a problem. LOL. I also taught her how to give a kiss. All you have to do is say give me a kiss and pucker your lips and she moves over to kiss you back. It is so funny and cute.
OH and big news, she started crawling! YAY! We finally made it. It was so wierd because she had been trying so hard and it just so happened on our anniversary which was June 10th she took off crawling. Of course, my days of sitting her in the floor and letting her play with her toys while I go start a load of laundry or dinner is over. If I go to the kitchen, she goes to the kitchen, if I go to laundry room, she goes to the laundry room. So, no rest for Mommy :)

Other than that, we are just going day to day enjoying our summer vacation. Stay tuned for more updates in the Rodriguez house. As for now, we are headed out to do some father's day shopping!

Here are a few videos and pictures from things that have gone on lately.

We were having technical problems earlier, but the first video should be working now. Here is the second one they made while I was gone. Enjoy!

An Eventful Friday Night

Ok, so on Friday night I had to go work a middle school dance. Oh yay! The perks of being a teacher! So anyway, Marina decided to go with me to the dance and I left Lorelai with Chris. I figured, or well I hoped, he could make it for two hours without me. Needless to say, the two of them kept each other occupied the entire two and a half hours. When I got home, I was introduced to the Lorelai Olivia show starring no one other than herself, Lorelai Olivia with special guest apperance, Daddy! I really can't explain these videos so I will just let you watch. Enjoy!

Kinda Makes Me Think

This sounds silly, but when I take Lorelai to daycare, (Mrs. Debbie's House), I force myself to be in a good mood and not think about the fact that I have to go work and my little girl has to be with someone else besides me. I love Mrs. Debbie, and I know that Lorelai is taken care of, but I still want to spend the whole day with her. Anyway, as I pulled into her driveway this morning, another mom was dropping off her little girl. I could tell that the little girl was a very new walker. She was very wobbily on her feet and was still very little. Of course, as soon as she was allowed to her feet where ready to hit the ground to go play with the other kids. As I was handing over Lorelai, Mrs. Debbie said something about how it would not be long until Lorelai was walking and getting around on her own. I kissed Lorelai goodbye and then headed to school. Somewhere between her house and school I could feel myself getting teary eyed because it hit me like a ton of bricks. She really is not that far away from all that. She can sit up on her own, she sleeps all night, she smiles, she laughs, she eats her baby food (not just bottles anymore), she even held her own bottle this morning for the first time. And, not to mention in eight days she will be 7 months old. How is possible that she is growing so fast. I mean it will not be long and she will be 1 year old. I don't know, I guess I just didn't think it was true when parents would say it goes by so quickly, but it does. They grow and change so quickly. I love all the new things she can do, but at the same time it does make me a little sad because she will never be 5 days old again, or 1 month old again. However, she is happy and healthy and that is what matters. I love being a mommy and would not trade it for anything in the world. With that being said, one new thing Lorelai has learned to do thanks to her Mimi and her daddy, is love Nilla Wafers. Our peditrician would probably get mad, but it is cute. However, now that she has two bottom teeth she tries to bite it. Now we just let her suck on it for a minute, then we have to take it away but at least she gets a taste. Here are a few pics!

First Laugh!

Ok, so us here in the Rodriguez household are new to this whole blog thing. Please forgive us if I have put stuff in the wrong place or a link is missing. I will figure it out sometime or another. So on February 2, 2009, I had gone to put some clothes in the washer. As I was loading the washer, I could hear Chris laughing with Lorelai but at first it sounded like she was crying. I knew he was in there so I decided to keep loading the washer. The next thing I knew, Chris was yelling for me to come in our bedroom. I hurried and shut the washer and ran into the bedroom. What I heard when I got in there, was one of the sweetest sounds I have ever heard. Lorelai was laughing for the very first time. And I mean she was actually laughing. I couldn't believe it! All I had was my phone, so I instantly started recording with my phone. By the time I ran to get the video camera, she was very much so over it. So the video I am going to try and post on here is from my cell phone. It is not the clearest video ever, but the next ones should be because I always have my camera ready now! Hope you enjoy!
